New MLS Team Still Homeless
Miami, Fl.- Overtown was one of the first places looked at for an MLS soccer stadium. After the announcement was made that Miami is getting a new MLS team, soccer fans were ecstatic but months later co-owners are still exploring their options.
Since then David Beckham and his partners have explored the idea of several other locations. One of the most prominent and well known being the Melreese golf course.
However due to the closeness of the Melreese site to the MIA airport there is a height limit of 70 feet in some areas which would conflict with the previously plans for a 100 foot Overtown stadium. As of now there has been no formal proposal from the Beckham group.
A recent update on the search for locations was reported by the Miami Herald that Doral, a city outside of the Miami-dade city limits is in consideration as a potential location. Doral may have fewer complications to work through to get the ball rolling. There have been many roadblocks along the way for this team already in the city of Miami so it could be a viable option .
This MLS soccer team is scheduled to begin playing in the 2020 season most reports say in a temporary site, but for now the biggest question for the future of this team is where its home will be.
